For the first time after almost six months of waiting and uncertainty, there was a public commitment from the State and more specifically from Giorgos Bramos, advisor to Public Radio and Television deputy-Minister Pantelis Kapsis about the loose ends of ERT, reassuring that all the feature films that have been approved will be financed as scheduled and will not face the danger of not being completed.
The Executive Director of Eurimages Roberto Olla, showing resilience, committed that he will pay out part of Eurimages obligations besides the delay from ERT`s side.
“We hope that State`s commitments will take shape soon, in order for Greek Cinema to be able to continue its rising and extrovert course” said Katerina Evangelakou, the President of Hellenic Film Academy.
All the speakers highlighted the importance of co-productions and synergies and Tassos Boulmetis, the President of the Scholars` Association of the Onassis Foundation, stated that this is also the priority of the foundation in order to promote Greek cinema.
Everybody stated that it is crucial for Greek Cinema to be a part of this international network of synergies, that is developed and constantly evolving through international meetings such as film labs, festivals and market meetings, so that it can be considered an equal member of the worldwide cinematographic community.
