Tirana International Film Festival – A Festival to discover!
1 November 2013

share info

Tirana International Film Festival is the oldest and biggest film festival in Albania. With more than 200 features and 800 shorts films from over 90 different countries submitted and 120 films selected and screened, a single week is not enough to watch them all. The program was excellent and the decisions of the juries were very difficult.

With the special screenings, the attendees had the occasion to discover films that might have never found their way to the Albanian audience and not only!

But the special screening that I would have never had the opportunity to watch elsewhere, was the Endri Keko΄s retrospective. Endri Keko is one of the founders of Albanian cinema after the WW II with many awarded documentaries since 1952, during the Enver Hoxha regime and it was a real revelation for us. Maybe the best program of the festival!

Due to the amazing energy of the festival΄s organizers, the experience to be part of the Tirana Film Festival is unique; connecting people from the Balkans, the Mediterranean Sea and all over the world. The collaboration between altcine and Tirana Film Festival started last year and we continue towards a strong partnership.

This year, altcine.com had the opportunity to give the Best Short Balkan film award, from a selection of 40 Balkan films presented. The The Best Short Balkan film for this year went to the Turkish film Shift 12-48, directed by Fatih Ozdemir. altcine also presented a selection of Balkan shorts, of this year altcineAction! Competition.
