Once again welcoming a new year, the 25th edition of Trieste Film Festival will open its doors from January 17 to 22 of the same month.
With an increasing importance nationally and internationally it has become a unique point of reference for the Central and Eastern European countries.

Beside the official selection and the sidebar programmes, that will be announced during the press conference on January the 11th , the festival hosts the co-production meetings When East Meets West, which involves more than 120 professionals from all over Europe.
When East Meets West is a co-production event organized by the FVG Audiovisual Fund and the Trieste Film Festival, in collaboration with EAVE, EURIMAGES, and the support of MEDIA Programme, Direzione Centrale per il CinemaMIBAC and CEI.

The main aim is to introduce a platform for meetings with funds representatives, commissioning editors, sales agents and possible co-producers coming from Eastern European countries, Italy and another selected Western European region (a different one every year). This year΄s focus is on the Benelux.

A very careful evaluation of 200 applications received from 29 European countries led to the announcement of the 22 selected projects.
All the selected producers will pitch their projects to a large panel of decision makers, having the opportunity to set individual meetings.
Additionally, projects will also compete for a grant for the participation in the next edition of the EAVE EUROPEAN PRODUCERS WORKSHOP.

An additional event, in the frame of Trieste Film Festival, is the innovative Eastweek project taking place for the 6th time in the row. The Eastweek project, a scriptwriting workshop for new talents, carried out with support from the Central European Initiative and the MATADOR International Prize for Screenwriting, which is growing into an international screenwriting workshop on the development of film scripts.

The selected students will take part in five-day workshop in which they will develop their ideas through group work, Q&A sessions, Masterclasses and case studies. The trainers at the workshop will be Nikos Panayotopoulos and Pavel Jech, with the collaboration of Thanos Anastopoulos, under the co-ordination of Andrea Magnani. In this unique Talent Campus the participants will have access to all the festival΄s initiatives and the co-production meetings for When East Meets West.
