Balkan Films at the 64th Berlinale

The 64th Berlin International Film Festival will take place from 6 to 16 February 2014 with many Balkan films in almost every section of the Festival.

Greece will represent the Balkans in the Official Competition Programme with the film Stratos by Yannis Economides.

Berlinale Shorts included this year in its official selection the Serbian film Sky Lines by Nadine Poulain and the Greek Washingtonia by Konstantina Kotzamani.

Standing Aside Watching by Yorgos Servetas (Greece) and The Lamb by Kutlug Ataman (Germany/Turkey) will screen at the Panorama section.

Balkan films will be also present at the 64th Berlinale Forum and they are the Romanian The Second Game by Corneliu Porumboiu, the Turkish Seaburners by Melisa Onel, the Romanian/German co-production The Forest is Like the Mountains by Christiane Schmidt and Didier Guillain, the Greek/German co-production  At Home by Athanasios Karanikolas and the Slovak Republic / Czech Republic / Croatian co-production Velvet Terrorists by Ivan Ostrochovsky, Pavol Pekarcik and Peter Kerekes.

The Blue Wave by Zeynep Dadak and Merve Kayan (Turkey / Germany / Netherlands / Greece) and Come to my Voice by Huseyin Karabey (Turkey / Germany / France) will screen at Generation 14plus and Generation Kplus respectively. The Greek film Proavlio by Rinio Dragasaki was selected for the Shorts-Generation 14plus and the Turkish Agri and the Mountain by Hasan Serin for the Shorts-Generation Kplus category.

Last but not least four Balkan projects will participate in this year΄s Berlinale Co-production Market. These are the Cypriot/Greek/German Happy Birthday by Christos Georgiou (Lychnari Productions & Twenty-Twenty Vision), the Romanian 6.9 on the Richter Scale by Nae Caranfil (Mobra Films), the Bulgarian/French I Want to Be Like You by Konstantin Bojanov (Multifilm & KinoElektron) and the Greek Son of Sophia by Elina Psykou (Heretic), which is included in the Berlinale Residency Projects.
