ECU on the Road travels to Athens! During three days, 17-19 February ÉCU is going to screen some of the films that participated to previous editions of The European Independent Film Festival (ÉCU). More specifically, 43 different films will be screened during the event, from 17 different nationalities, among which 8 films are Greek.

ECU on the Road is an innovative action in the frame of The European Independent Film Festival ÉCU which is held annually in Paris. ECU, always aiming at promoting independent cinema, travels every year since 2011 around the world making sure the “Official Selection” directors and films are made known.

ECU on the Road became reality with the support and help of more than 50 partner festivals, cultural centers and film commissions around the globe. These journeys make it possible for independent filmmakers΄ voice to be heard and offers their works exposure they would otherwise might not have had.

In its past editions, ECU on the Road has traveled to many countries all over the world. Regarding the Balkan region, the Festival has been in Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Croatia, in the frame of festivals such as Romanian International Film Festival, In the Palace Film Festival, International Short Film Festival Cyprus and others.

In Athens, the films, along with interesting workshops, will be showcased at Six d.o.g.s, a well known place, ideal for the screening of independent films. The speakers for the occasion will be Scott Hillier, president of ÉCU – The European Independent Film Festival, and Socrates Alafouzos, Greek actor and director.

According to the ECU΄s team, “As a festival for filmmakers, it is extremely important for ÉCU to go on the road and tour our films. Through our road series, we have the ability to changes lives, forge relationships, further artistic expression, and most importantly, encourage a new generation of filmmaking and film-goers.”
