This year’s 8th edition of the
Gopo Awards, starting from
March 24, will reward the best Romanian films of the past year, out of 65 features, short, fiction and documentaries.
Gathering 13,
Flying Lessons, Igor Cobileanski’s debut feature film led the nominations race, followed by
Domestic and
Rocker, each with 11,
Child΄s Pose with 10 nominations,
The Japanese Dog - 8, and
When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism gathering 7.
Out of 41 European films, premiered in Romania during 2013, those five nominated for the Best European Film category are Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt, Michael Haneke’s Amour, Blue Is The Warmest Color by Abdellatif Kechiche, Kapringen by Tobias Lindholm and Hannah Arendt by Margarethe von Trotta.
Călin Peter Netzer’s Child΄s Pose will add another award to its collection being rewarded with the Most Successful Romanian Film of 2013 award.
Animation artist and Palme d΄Or winner Ion Popescu Gopo΄s iconic character serves as the prize statuette.
