Two Balkan Films at Cannes Film Festival 2014

The 67th Cannes Film Festival, one of the most anticipated events concerning the film industry, will take place from 14 to 25 May 2014. On Thursday, April 17th the festival announced the line-up of this year΄s Official Selection and Balkans are proud to participate with two films, one in the Competition section and one in the Un Certain Regard category.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan

This year, in the Official Competition of the Festival, among other films by well-known directors, we meet the Turkish/German/French co-production Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who is already a three times Cannes Film Festival winner with the films Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011), Three Monkeys (2008) and Distant (2002).

Xenia by Panos Koutras

The film Xenia by Panos Koutras, despite the financial difficulties it faced due to the sudden shutdown of ERT, the national Greek television, managed to overcome the obstacles and it participates in the Festival as part of the Un Certain Regard section. The film is about Danny and Odysseas, two brothers crossing Greece in search of their father, they΄ve never met before.
