Romanian Film Union (UCIN) Awards 2014

The Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) and Romanian Film Critics Association awarded on Monday, May 5th  at the Cinema Studios, the Best Romanian films of 2013. The great winner of the evening was the already multi-awarded Child΄s Pose by Calin Peter Netzer.

The Romanian Film Critics Association, part of UCIN awarded Child΄s Pose with three prizes, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress for Luminita Gheorghiu, while Victor Rebengiuc was handed the Best Actor award for his performance in the film Japanese Dog by Tudor Christian Jurgiu.

Anca Damian for A Very Unsettled Summer and Adrian Sitaru for Domestic, were given the Best Director Award ex-aequo, while Domestic left the gala with Best Script, Best Cinematography, and Best Art Direction awards as well. A Very Unsettled Summer won two more awards, these for Best Editing and Best Soundtrack.

Alin State was the winner of the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in film Rocker by Marian Crisan. The film was also given Best Costumes and Best Sound Awards. Valeria Secia won Best Supporting Actress award for the film Roxanne by Valentin Hotea, while the independent films Deja Vu by Dan Chisu and Killing Time by Florin Piersic Jr. were handed Best Actress and Best Actor awards respectively. Killing Time was also awarded the Best Experimental Film prize.

The Best Documentary Award went to The Tănase Business by Ionuţ Teianu, the Best Fiction Short Film to The Cement Mixer/Betoniera by Liviu Săndulescu (Mandragora), the Best Animated Film to The Power of the 10 Months/Puterea celor 10 luni by Adrian Băluţă and the Best Producer Award to Gabi Antal from Abis Studio. Love Building by Iulia Rugina and Japanese Dog by Tudor Christian Jurgiu shared the Opera Prima Award.

The Tanase Business by Ionut Teianu

Three more Academic Awards from UCIN went to actress Luminita Gheorghiu and filmmaker Dan Pita for their contribution to the Romanian Cinema and to Prof.Univ.Dr. Manuela Cernat for her contribution to film history and for her academic career.
