The absence of Greek State on the latest developments in Greek film industry urged Hellenic Film Academy (HFA) to issue the following press release:
Athens, June 1, 2014
The Hellenic Film Academy is expressing its strong concern about the State’s deafening absence on the latests developments that are taking place in the bodies and institutions of Greek cinema.
While Greek films keep on with their impressing presence in the international festivals and markets, the Greek Film Center still remains without a Board of Directors, meaning, still incapable of functioning and taking decisions, like, ratifying the agreement signed with the French Film Center, whilst, the same time, a serious jam has occurred with the President of Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
In this unfortunate occasion, we vigorously stress the Greek Ministry of Culture’s need to fulfil the minimum of its obligations, taking care of the proper functioning of the Organisations the Ministry manages, let alone these organisations’ display of healthy finances and the fact that they don’t ask for money in these harsh times, due to their General Managers’ hard work.
Thus, we invite the Minister to support those institutions and parties who succeeded on their missions.
