Showcasing new films from Greece and Cyprus, and including works by international filmmakers of Greek descent, the 8th Annual
Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (
LAGFF) welcomes from
June 4 till the 8th of the same month artists and films reflecting the continued search for answers and solutions while pointing out the absurdity of the status quo in Greek society. Social, personal, identities, borders, morals, values, are all entities to be discussed, questioned and rediscovered. This years΄ program comes with two key trends that make their presence felt: The strong participation of female filmmakers and the many submissions of first time-directors; almost half of our films are by first-time-at-the-helm efforts of young filmmakers, illuminating the way to a brighter future.
Beside the feature, documentaries and short films programmed, the Californian -and not only- audience will have the chance to attend special events and workoshops, like the Special Focus – Audience Engagement & Crowd Funding event with industry specialists, the Case Study – Microbudget Filmmaking workshop which involves a start to finish run-through of DIY (do it yourself) filmmaking in today’s market, the seminar with award-winning Casting Director Valorie Massalas, the Feature Film Development industry roundtable on indiependent filmmaking and, the TV Series & Web-Series industry roundtable on the latest evolutions in serial production.
