21th European Film Festival Palic 2014

The 21th European Film Festival Palic will take place from 19 to 25 July, in Northern Serbia. This year about 85 films within 10 festival sections will be screened.

Festival΄s Official Selection includes 13 European films, selected by Petar Mitric. These films are in competition for Golden Tower for the best film of the Festival and two Palic Towers. The films are going to be judged by a five-member international jury: Pierre-Henri Deleau, actor and director, Karin Hoffinger producer and director, Sabolc Hajdu director from Hungary, Hristina Popovic awarding actress and Dalibor MatanicCroatian author and co-author of multiply-awarded documentaries. 


In this section are included four Balkan co-productions:

Stratos by Yannis Economides, Greece, Germany, Cyprus (2014)

Strange Forest by Szabolcs Tolnai, Serbia, Hungary (2014)

Barbarians by Ivan Ikic, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia (2014)

Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Turkey, France, Germany (2014)

This year΄s Palic Competition programme “Parallels and Encounters” is dedicated to feature films from Eastern Europe (former Eastern block). Three films from Balkan are selected:

Bridges Of Sarajevo by Leonardo di Costanzo, Jean-Luc Godard, Kamen Kalev, Isild Le Besco, Sergey Loznitsa, Vincenzo Marra, Ursula Meier, Vladimir Perisic, Cristi Puiu, Marc Recha, Angela Schanelec, Teresa Villaverde, Aida Begic, produced by France, Bosnia Herzegovina, Italy, Bulgaria, Portugal, Switzerland (2014)

Finally, five Jugoslavian films will be screened in the Homage Programm. Do You Remember Dolly Bell? by Emir Kusturica (1984), Great Transport by Veljko Bulajic (1983), The Illusive Summer Of ΄68 by Goran Paskaljevic (1984), The Balkan Spy by Dusan Kovacevic and Bozidar Nikolic (1984) and The Beauty Of Vice by Zivko Nikolic (1986).
