The 4th International Film Festival of Patmos, which is becoming a meeting point of filmmakers and artists, started at 24 of July and it will last till the 30th .
This year, the Festival will host 10 feature films, 40 shorts and 17 documentaries.
Feature films will be screened at the Municipal School of Skala in a specially designed open air cinema of 350 seats, while there will be screenings of documentaries and short films at the Old School of Hora. In the same area, a children΄s film is organised for the festival΄s little friends , whose profits will be donated for the school΄s conservation.
This year, as part of the program, it will be a tribute to four women filmmakers, entitled “Women΄s Cinema”, who will come to Patmos to talk about their work and the challenges they face in their profession. Furthermore, the program includes a tribute to Musical Documentaries, a selection of the best short films submitted to IFFP 2014, many of which have been awarded at the biggest film festivals worldwide and a series of workshops related to the script and the production, which will be organised by Greek and international acknowledged professionals at the Hotel Patmos Aktis and will be open to the public.
Last year, it΄s been the first attempt to provide mentorship and development to young filmmakers by producing the successful documentary “Life in the Borderlands”. Once more, the festival continues the dedication by organising this year a short film script writing contest, called FADE IN. The number of submissions surpassed expectations, garnering over 400 scripts and providing a clear picture of the young filmmaker΄s talent and will. The five finalists will travel to Patmosfor the final part of the competition, in order to win the full support and funding of their movie by OTE TV and SugarHigh Films.
