The 8th Greek Documentary Festival in Chalkida, Docfest, ended on Sunday evening, awarding the winning films and filmmakers. 

Docfest΄s aim is to bring the audience close to documentaries - very important for the Greek film production, to contribute to the promotion of Greek documentary in Greece and abroad, to create a platform for promoting the Greek documentary, focusing on independent productions and to establish an effective meeting place for the filmmakers. 

The festival is divided in two sections: the Panorama and the Competition section (for chosen feature and short documentaries).

1st Prize for a feature documentary to Palikari - Louis Tikas and the Ludlow Massacre by Nikos Ventouras, 2014

2nd Prize for a feature documentary to A Marathon of an Unfinished Spring: Grigoris Lambrakis by Stelios Charalampopoulos, 2014

3rd Prize for a feature documentary to Time for Heroes by Angelos Kovotsos & Calliope Legaki, Greece, 2014

1st Prize for a short documentary to Theodoros Papayannis: The Return to Elliniko by Panayotis Kravvaris, 2014

2nd Prize for a short documentary to Excision by Vicky Vellopoulou, 2013, 55΄

3rd Prize for a short documentary to Salt Flats by Yorgos Savoglou & Ira Dika, 2014, 35΄

Greks Film Critics Association΄s Award was given to Stelios Charalampopoulos΄ A Marathon of an Unfinished Spring: Grigoris Lambrakis, 2014

Best Photography Debut Award to Yorgos Savoglou  and Ira Dika for Salt Flats, 2014, while, Dimitris Koutsiabasakos΄ Becoming an Actor (2014), Anneta Papathanasiou΄s Playing With Fire (2014) and Polka in Athens (2013) by Katerina-Martha Clark received special mentions, along with the short docs Kaiti Florou, Queen of the Typewriter (2014, 56΄) by Prokopis Dafnos and Zontanoi mes sto tsimento by Yorgos Gounezos (2014, 13΄).
