goEast Film Festival 2015 Awards

No One΄s Child by Vuk Rsumovic was named Best Film at goEast Film Festival 2015, in Wiesbaden, Germany. The award is worth of €10,000, whith the jury being "impressed by a film that holds the audience’s attention with a powerful story about a boy who was turned from an animal into a human being while the world around him was going in the opposite direction”. Serbian filmmaker΄s feature film debut made its world premiere in last year΄s Venice Film Festival΄s Critics΄ Week, going away with the Audience Award.

Zelimir Zilnik΄s new documentary Logbook_Serbistan got the Award of the Federal Foreign Office for Cultural Diversity (€4,000). The jury commented that it was "a film which is discussing present European key issues in a very striking, multi-levelled way and reflects East-West and North-South relations from an unusual point of view."   

Romanian director Anda Puscas΄ film project Messenger won the goEast Development Award (€3,500) or the best pitch in the East-West Talent Lab.  The jury selected the project for being "a story about the importance of family ties that goes beyond assumptions, touching upon our beliefs of human existence (...) a story of life and death, religion and faith, confronting us with a closed and distant community".

The Award of the City of Wiesbaden for Best Director (€7,500) went to Koza by Slovak director Ivan Ostrochovský, who also won the FIPRESCI Prize. Drifter by Gábor Hörcher from Hungary and Zuhause by Czech filmaker Jiří Stejskal received Honourable Mentions, while the €5,000 Open Frame Award of BHF-BANK-Stiftung went to Eating From The Floor Of History by Sita Scherer from Germany.
