Recent Balkan films competing at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Montpellier

Each year, the Mediterranean Film Festival of Montpellier (Cinemed, October 24-31), presents the best film releases from the entire Mediterranean region. 

With feature, shorts, documentaries, experimental and animated films, the festival usually screens around 200 works, including a number of international premieres, as well as special events, tributes, disscussions with directors and actors, exhibitions and a film industry fair.

Among the highlights of the 2015 edition, the Tributes Section has programmed some unique screenings. Tony Gatlif and his gypsy universe will gather audiences, as well as Carlos Saura, who will present his last film Argentina. Filmmaker Miguel Gomez will also be at Cinemed 2015, to show his work and talk of the incredible energy in film creation in Portugal today, while, the least known Sergio of Italian spaghetti western, Sergio Sollima, who died this summer, will be honored with the screening of some of his best films.

Actor Roschdy Zem will preside the Jury of Features Competition, which will present 10 features, 20 shorts and 8 documentary films, while the Panorama Competition section has programmed 10 feature films and 13 shorts.

Other sections of Cinemed 2015 include the Cinemed Meetings (October 27-29), with roundtables and meetings for professionals, the 25th Development Grant where 15 planned features films are presented by their directors and producers to a panel of professionals, a Focus on Portuguese Cinema with Portuguese directors and producers, and a representative of the French Film Center (CNC) and the Development Aid Grant for short filmmakers aiming at their first feature film.
