“A film festival is always also a seismograph, a discourse and a mirror of the reality. The artists reflect the world audiovisually. And the world is literally on the move. Millions of people are on the move. Most of them against their free will. Many are on the run. This year, Berlinale will focus especially on people, not just them who are on the run, but also on them who have suffered persecution, war violence and tortures. The treatment center for torture victims takes care of them and for this initiative we ask you for donation. Thank you very much!”

-Dieter Kosslick
Festival Director
