Balkan Winners at 21st Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris

The 21st Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris ended Thursday evening by announcing this year’s winners. Among them, we find several Balkan winners at the New Europe – New Names competition programme.

This year, the jury for the competition programme New Europe – New Names chose two Best Film winners – I, Olga Hepnarova (Czech Republic), directed by Petr Kazda and Tomáš Weinreb, and Thirst directed by Svetla Tsotsorkova. This programme aims to discover and appreciate debuting directors from Central and Eastern Europe.

Thirst by Svetla Tsotsorkova

Bulgarian Monika Naydenova from Thirst was named the Best Actress in this competition programme. This was the young actress’s first role.

Our Everyday Life by Ines Tanovic

Uliks Fehmiu from Serbia received the Best Actor award for his performance in Our Everyday Life.

A Good Wife by Mirjana Karanovic

The films that competed in the New Europe – New Names programme were also judged by the International Confederation of Art Cinemas CICAE jury. They awarded the Serbian film A Good Wife, directed by Mirjana Karanović.
