From 20 to 25 of April 2016, Crossing Europe again seeks to spotlight the different nuances of the (film) continent of Europe, indeed to offer multifaceted and cinephile insights into a continent and its obvious complexity with the program of the 13th festival, inviting a direct engagement with European life worlds.
Babai by Visar Morina
This year’s program is just as multifaceted as the film continent of Europe – artistic auteur cinema from Europe presents itself with a broad range of themes and styles. 162 outstanding feature films, documentaries and short films from 35 different countries are presented for the festival audience to choose from, including several world premieres and internationally acclaimed films shown for the first time in Austria, as well as selected local film productions.
Thirst by Svetla Tsotsorkova
In 2016, with hand-picked socio-political films and numerous film guests present, Crossing Europe again seeks to arouse pleasure in unconventional cinema from Europe and pleasure in a – sometimes radical or even sensuous – artistic engagement with the world that surrounds us. Of course, for once more, the 13th edition of the festival includes many Balkan films in its numerous sections.
Holy Cow by Imam Hasanov
In the Competition Fiction category Babai by Visar Morina and Thirst by Svetla Tsotsorkova will compete for Crossing Europe Award – Best Fiction Film and Crossing Europe Audience Award – Best Fiction Film, while Holy Cow by Imam Hasanov will claim the Crossing Europe Social Awareness Award - Best Documentary.
