We came CLOSE...SO CLOSE to running out of money... We tried really hard to make a good movie... And we did. And this soundtrack stands proudly erect in the canon of European cinema. See you on the next one! Nikos Papadimitriou
Endless bits of paper, endless litres of tea, endless nights with the headphones, endless discussions over tequilas after work. Working on "Close, so close" - was for me like a journey into the self. The three main characters of the film are hard to like but easy to embrace because they all remind me of parts of myself that I would change. On many nights I found myself battling the concepts of fear, urban isolation, violence, escapism, the flood of information, and even death; How do they make me feel? What does that sound like? Stella, gave me the chance to express with sounds what these concepts made me feel when i was alone. Although we worked very closely together her presence was so discreet as to let me propose something personal. One day she slipped a tape into my hands, left the editing room, and closed the door. If you ΄ve seen the film you ΄ll remember a couple of scenes where our heroes watch pornographic content on their TV screens. My job, was to select the sounds! I walked out of the room a couple of hours later saturated with porn and discovered a laughing mob outside. Kenan Akkawi
