A lecture-tribute to Theo Angelopoulos` work by Dr. Andrew S. Horton will be held in Hellenic American Union Theater in Athens on 21st of May. With two books and many more essays dedicated to Angelopoulos` work, Horton will share the director`s unique point of view with the audience. Through quotation marks from Eternity and a Day, Ulysses’ Gaze and The Weeping Meadow, Horton will explain the nature and importance of Angelopoulos’ films. The visitors will explore the director`s techniques of merging present, history and myth together in single shot.
“Theo Angelopoulos can be counted as one of the few filmmakers in cinema’s first hundred years who compel us to redefine what we feel cinema is and can become” states Horton. And he supplements “Theo could be a traditionalist as well as an innovator”.
Andrew S. Horton is an award winning screenwriter and author of fifteen books on film, screenwriting and culture. He has cover thirty years of Angelopoulos` directing carrier through a series of interviews, and two books, The Films of Theo Angelopoulos - A cinema of Contemplation and The Last Modernist.
