Thessaloniki stands at the heart of the Balkan and has always been a crossroad of civilisations, a place where the East and West meet and mix. In Thessaloniki, Crossroads, the Media programme-supported Co-Production Forum, headed by Marie-Pierre Macia and coordinated by Angeliki Vergou, is running its 8th edition from November 6-10, 2012, promoting the relationship between countries which are culturally united through the international language of cinema. The deadline to submit your feature film projects to Crossroads Co-production Forum is extended to July 31st. So if you haven΄t applied yet, you still have time!

Crossroads are looking for feature-length fiction film projects that contain a link to the Mediterranean and Balkan region or Central Europe. They should either be produced or co-produced by a country within these regions or contain elements in the story that link them to these regions. Projects should have a producer attached and could be in all stages of pre-production. In its six previous editions, Crossroads included projects by filmmakers such as Constantine Giannaris, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Alexis Alexiou, Gabriel Achim and Angelos Frantzis among others. Past success stories from Thessaloniki’s Crossroads include Knifer by Yannis Economidis (Greece), Future Lasts Forever by Ozkan Alper (Turkey), Tilva Rosh by Nikola Lezaic (Serbia), Black Field by Vardis Marinakis (Greece), Sut by Semih Kaplanoglu,  Adalbert`s Dream by Gabriel Achim (Romania), Beyond the Hill by Emin Alper (Turkey/Greece).

The 8th Crossroads Forum will be organized by the 53nd Thessaloniki International Film Festival as part of the Agora Market to promote local talents  and give the chance to Mediterranean, Balkan and Central European producers with a feature film script to meet a new network of financiers, co-producers and leading industry specialists. Crossroads has a particular focus to countries from the regions with a low production capacity.

Crossroads awards include the main co-production award with 2|35 Inc offering post-production services (image & sound) and the CNC Development Award of 7.000 euros. The producer of the winning project will also be granted a free accreditation for the Producer’s Network, Cannes Film Festival session and Sofia Meetings of the Sofia International Film Festival is selecting a project to be presented during their session. Also, the MFI Script 2 Film Workshops is awarding a scholarship to one of the projects and Initiative Film (France) is offering its services to one Greek project.
