"This is the most beautiful sunset in the world" said Alfred Hitchcock delighted during his staying in Zadar, where Festival Film ForumZadar takes place during the last week of August. Industry and talents will meet in the Croatian port, on the Adriatic coast from August 25 to 31. This year’s edition of the film festival changes its name into Avvantura Festival Film ForumZadar and to the Forum, in the main programme which focuses on European coproduction, brings numerous Croatian premiers, award-winning and first and foremost interesting films. Different seminars, round tables, workshops and master-classes will be held during the Festival.
Zadar aims to become the most desirable film hot spot and filming location since August 2010, when Croatian director Sergej Stanojkovski founded the first international film festival being focused on European Co-Productions, both artistic and economic. Avvantura is also the first film festival in Zadar going to gather not only the cinema audience during the film projections but also the professionals participating at the creative Film Forum. The Forum aims to gather and connect film-creatives and to place Zadar and the region as the new film and creative center. Filmforumzadar΄s thematic feature enhances Croatian position on the European film scene, as it presents many Croatian and several regional premieres. Films that have not been presented in any Croatian motion picture event are prefered. If the film (feature, short or transmedia) has been selected in a croatian international section (competitive or not) of a festival, besides Pula Film Festival, it becomes ineligible for Film ForumZadar. As announced, two Balkan films will be played in competition in the main programme this year: A Letter to my Father by Damir Cucicthe best film at this year΄s Pula Film Festival  Death of A Man in Balkans by Miroslav Momcilovic which was recently awarded the Independent Camera Award at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
Avvantura is the first and the only Festival in Croatia that is involved in the programme Eye On Films, a new business model for promoting, circulation, and distribution of debut films. This is a unique global network, supported by Media, that consists of about 40 film festival and 39 international film distributors which guarantees the flow of films and their commercial exploitation.
It is also partners with Nisi Masa, a European network that brings together young professionals from 26 countries with the intention of finding new talents and developing of the audio-visual projects.
Film ForumZadar΄s team strongly believes that the new generations will have the great opportunity to show that Zadar disposes of more than just perfect geographic position on the Adriatic sea along with the beautiful landscapes perfect for the film sets, and that beside the rich history has the perspective for the future. They are particularly happy for their cooperation and partnership with Eurimages, the biggest film fund for supporting film productions, and whose representative from Strasbourg will represent in Zadar the principle of financing films with the help of Eurimages. Films made with the support of Eurimages will be highlighted at the Festival.
