Tirana IFF 2012 Short Films Awards

The Tirana International Film Festival was concluded on December 2nd, leaving the participants and the audiences with the best of impressions.

The International Jury Of Short Film TIFF 2012, consisted Stefania Casini from Italy,Blerta Zeqiri from Kosovo*, and the founder of altcine Electra Venaki from Greece, awarded as Best Short Fiction the film That Wasn`t Me (24’), by Esteban Crespo Garcia from Spain for “the impressive actors’ performance, the style, and the excellent use of all cinematographic elements, put on the service of a very powerful story about a real existing problem that we must not ignore.”

The decision was very difficult, as the jury was impressed by the high quality of selected films and for this reason they decided to give a Special Mention to the film The Wedding (12’), by Marina Seresesky, also from Spain for “the power of joy and hope that embraces those so difficult situations such as the separation of families due to immigration.”

The Best Short Documentary Award was given to the film Another Night On Earth (28’), by David Munoz from Spain, because “it was able to present in an almost cinema-verité style, enormous changes on people lives with clear references on well-known feature films.”
The film A Story For The Modlins (26’), by Sergio Oksman from Spain took a Special Mention from the jury for its innovative aesthetic approach.

Best Short Animation was declared the film Oh Willy… (16’), by Emma De Swaef and Marc James Roels from Belgium for its “impressive use of materials used to create the characters and the sets, the stop-motion technique, the fantasy and poetry of the storytelling”.

For its research on cinematographic language, the emotion and the innovative concept, Best Short Experimental Award went to the film How I Lost My Wings (22’) by Ivan Tasic from Serbia.

The members of the Jury For Film In Albanian TIFF 2012, Robert Aliaj Dragot, Kast Hasa and Koloreto Cukali, awarded the film Touch Me (18’) by Pascal Roy from France with the First Short Fiction “Ron Holloway” Award for its “exquisite sensitivity in the narrative art and finding infinite dimensions of the love for the human being.”

Best Film In Albanian Award won the film Sistress (21’), by Birol Urcan from Kosovo*. The film, as stated by the jury is “a comedy of character, which gives the impression of a comedy noble based on a delicate and refined humor, with striking situations. A movie that brings to the screen a real piece of life, building human relations and lively characters.”


Dylan΄s Room

Dylan`s Room (15’) by Layke Anderson from UK, won the Media Award “for the audacity in exploring the complexity of parental feelings and the ability to elegantly blend the objective and subjective reality.” The Jury of Media TIFF 2012 was consisted by Maks Velo, Rajmonda Nelku (Sallaku) and Ridvan Peshkëpi.

Last but not least, Pierluigi Ferrandini from Italy won the Audience Award for the film Greengold (19’).
