61 Romanian films released in cinemas or festivals in 2012 are nominated for the seventh edition of Romania΄s Gopo Awards 2013, which will take place on March 25 at the National Opera in Bucharest. 

Four films compete for the Award of Best Film: Everybody in Our Family (directed by Radu Jude), Of Snails and Men, (directed by Tudor Giurgiu), Adalbert΄s Dream (directed by Gabriel Achim) and Somewhere in Palilula (directed by Silviu Purcarete). All four directors of the nominated Best Films are competing for the Best Director award. 

At the request of director Cristian Mungiu , the organizers and the jury decided not to consider the film Beyond the Hills, for nomination this year. Also, lack of enough options the jury decided to not grant this year the award of Best Actress in a Leading Role.

The jury of the pre-selection consists of director Marian Crisan, actress Ana Ularu, producer Velvet Moraru, director of photography Alexander Sterian, production designer Viorica Petrovich and film critics Cristian Tudor Popescu, Cristian Luca, Alin Ludu Dumbravă, Cristi Mărculescu,  Anca Grădinariu.

After the announcement of nominations, more than 400 active professionals from all areas of Romanian film industry will vote to appoint the winners of this year Gopo Awards.

The Gala of Gopo Awards is organized by the Romanian Film Promotion Association (APFR), with the support of Ministry of Culture, the National Opera in Bucharest and Babel Communications. 

This year, organizers denied the financial support of the National Film Center.

Between March 2 to 10, exclusively at Cinema Union (Bucharest), the public will be able to enjoy a special program of screenings of films nominated for the seventh edition of the Gopo Awards. Moviegoers will have the chance to (re) view some Romanian films released in 2012 and presented at festivals, theaters and other cultural events in the country and abroad.Romanian Film Promotion Association continues the effort to re-attract the local public and endorse the cinema attendances for the Romanian movies, so appreciated internationally.
