Ektoras Lygizos and his debut feature film Boy Eating The Bird`s Food won the CROSSING EUROPE AWARD in European Competition which is accompanied by 10.000 Euros.

The International Festival Jury (Dominique Choisy (FR), Sarlote Liduma (LV), Pia Marais (DE)) explained their unanimous decision, saying: “For its musical precision, for its portrayal of human existence as something delicate, for its mystery, for its taking us to places we wouldn’t have thought of going. This film deals with the everyday battle for jobs and survival on an artistic level we have not seen before.”

From the 23rd to 28th of April will be held in the city of Linz, Austria, the Crossing Europe Festival, in which many balkan films will participate this year, four of which  in the Official Competition section.

Two films in the Official Competition are greek, Constantina Voulgari`s A.C.A.B All The Cats Are Brilliant and Boy Eating The Bird`s Food by Ektoras Lygizos, the winner of the Best Feature Film of the Hellenic Film Academy Awards.

Voulgari`s new film is a personal, subjective demonstration of today`s reality, filled with humor, anger and love, produced by Mitos, Greek Film Center, Ert, Telefilm – N. Kavoukidis & Co. and Grigoris Karydis.

The film Boy Eating The Bird`s Food describes three days in the life of a young man living in Athens, during the economic crisis and is produced by Stefi Productions, in collaboration with Guanaco Productions, Oxymoron Films and Fantasia Audiovisual Ltd.

The other two Balkan films in the Official Competition are the Bosnian film Children of Sarajevo by Aida Begic and Turkish Present Tense by Belmin Soylemez.

The documentary 100 (173 alexandras ave., athens), directed by Gerassimos Rigas, produced by ERT will be screened in the section Working Worlds. The film shows the everyday life of the workers in the Police Force and their efforts to deal with any given incident. Also in this section will be screened Ilian Metev’s documentary Sofia’s Last Ambulance.

In the section European Panorama Fiction, will be screened the films Somewhere in Between by Yesim Ustaoglu, A Girl And a Tree (Work in Progress) by Vlado Skafar and Beyond the Hill by Emin Alper.

The Swedish-Bulgarian documentary Tzvetanka by Youlian Tabakov will be screened in the European Panorama Documentary section.

The Face of Revolution by Vladimir Milovanovic

In the section Fresh Danube Films, we will meet four films from the region, the croatian films Sonja and the Bull by Vlatka Vorkapic and A Letter to my Father by Damir Cucic, as well as the serbian films, The Face of a Revolution by Vladimir Milovanovic and Redemption Street by Miroslav Terzic.

Also, in the section Play It Again will be screened the oscar nominated film Dogtooth by Yorgos Lanthimos.

The Crossing Europe Festival since 2004 includes european films of social - political content, while this year there will participate in all sections, 140 carefully selected  films, features, shorts and documentaries.
