Crossroads is the Co-Production Forum, organized by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The Forum will take place November 5-9 2013, during the festival and the deadline for applications is July 31st. Mediterranean, Balkan and Central European producers with a feature film script are given the chance to meet a new network of financiers, co-producers and leading industry specialists. Crossroads introduces producers and directors to a variety of industry professionals from all over the world. The programme is varied and provides the opportunity to meet, formally and informally, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants. Crossroads` goal is to support the producers of feature-length fiction film projects that contain a link to the Mediterranean and Balkan regions as well as Central Europe. Qualifying features will be produced or co-produced by a country in this area or are movies that contain story elements based in these regions.

The Forum is headed by Marie Pierre Macia and is looking for feature-length fiction film projects that contain a link to the Mediterranean and Balkan region or Central Europe. They should either be produced or co-produced by a country within these regions or contain elements in the story that link them to these regions. Projects should have a producer attached and could be in all stages of pre-production. The team`s focus in the selection procedure will be on projects that present a high possibility of being realized, combining this quality with artistic

In this framework, Crossroads has come to add an important action in the direction of aiding and promoting local talent. Crossroads has a particular focus to countries from the regions with a low production capacity. The constant goal of the project is to scout for new talent in these countries and to provide producers with opportunities to make their work known in a wider market. Through the actions of the Forum, the selected producers are aided in their efforts to promote their projects outside their countries and to network with potential partners. The joint involvement of countries from the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Central Europe signals the start of a new relationship between countries, which, although separated geographically by the Mediterranean, are culturally united through the international language of cinema.

In its previous editions, Crossroads included projects by filmmakers such as  Yesim Ustaoglu, Constantine Giannaris, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Alexis Alexiou, Gabriel Achim, Radu Jude, Zeki Demirkubuz and Florin Serban among others.

Among the completed Crossroads films are Pandora’s Box by Yesim Ustaoglu, Knifer by Yannis Economidis, The Future Lasts Forever by Özkan Alper, Amnesty by Bujar Alimani, Tilva Rosh by Nikola Lezaic, Everybody in Our Family by Radu Jude, Süt by Semih Kaplanoglu, Adalbert΄s Dream by Gabriel Achim, Beyond the Hill by Emin Alper.
