SOFA is a two-week training program for upcoming film professionals from Middle and Eastern Europe, Germany, Central Asia and the republics of Caucasus. SOFA doesn’t aim to educate film directors or producers. SOFA supports young promoters, mediators and catalyzers with their unique film/cinema project ideas for the local and international audience in their country of origin – in all possible creative shapes.
SOFA`s goal is to help its participants in the long run to make their innovative “dream project” come true and – at the same time – to develop regional film culture and industry.
One of the following sample projects might soon be established by the SOFA participants: a film festival, a regional (independent) film fund, a film commission, a film promotion, an independent (arthouse) cinema, a film museum, a film archive, a VoD platform, a film magazine (print or online), a professional film networking association, a training initiative and many more – whatever exciting project one can think of.
Among the tutors of the workshop we meet Roberto Olla, executive director of the European co-production fund Eurimages, Renate Rose, director of European Film Promotion, Katriel Schory, executive director of the Israel Film Fund, Romanian director Tudor Giurgiu and Claudia Dillmann from the German Film Institute. All lectures are free of charge, and SOFA covers accommodation and travel costs.
