Short Film Festivals have their own unique significance. Though they might be less popular or glamorous, Short Film Festivals are the meeting point not only for young artists trying to make their first steps but also for established film directors who use this form they way a novelist uses the short story. PART II - ONLINE FESTIVALS
Even though technology moves forward with giant steps, online festivals are still trying to find their place in the audiovisual industry world. Two exclusively and no entry fee online short film festivals are the following ones.
SHORTSNONSTOP.COM is a program of the Canadian Film Centre, a registered charitable organization and Canada’s largest institution for advanced training in film, television and new media. It is a year-round online mobile film festival that you can experience anytime or anyplace.The running time of films submitted to SHORTSNONSTOP cannot exceed more than ten minutes. SHORTSNONSTOP accepts entries on an ongoing basis, directly at its website. An esteemed Jury of industry professionals will select one filmmaker in each prize period to be awarded a cash prize of $1500.
Submissions Deadline: August 15th, 2013.
Filminute is the international one-minute film festival that showcases, awards and promotes the best one-minute films from around the world. Filminute is built to generate the largest amount of exposure possible for the one-minute filmmakers and the collection of one-minute films showcased, short-listed, and awarded by an international jury and the public.
The Filminute Festival will run from 01 to 30 September 2013.
Submissions deadline: August 20th 2013
Kinodot is an online festival of minimalist short films, launched in 2012. Online film festival Kinodot continues through the whole year. Films are available on the festival΄s website. In future there will be an applications for mobile phones.
The festival consists of Kinodot Competition and non-competitive program Kinodot Lab.The decision about including films in the competitive and non-competitive programs is taken by the festival selection committee.
Submissions open on October 20th 2014.
And of course we are very proud to present our Online Short Film Festival, altcineAction! for Balkan Fimmakers.
The 2nd altcineAction! Festival will be conducted online only through altcine.com, Submissions should not exceed 20 minutes. The Festival will be conducted over a period of 60 days (from announcement to voting) and will close with the award ceremony, the only event of the festival which is not virtual.
The Festival ‘capacity’ is 360 minutes. Submissions will close once the 360 minutes have been filled.
Submissions open on August 20th 2013.
