Dimitris, an indebted self-employed telecommunications engineer, shuts down his small business. Desperate for quick money, he accepts a job offer from his friend Nick who works for Dimitris’ ex boss. The two men must get rid of the hackers who keep intruding into the antennas of the company. Their investigation leads to a suspicious flat in a big block of flats, where they find an illegal hidden antenna. Dimitris starts spying on Panayota, an ill-looking tenant of the block, with whom he gradually gets closer. Filled with remorse, Dimitris switches off the illegal antenna and takes a trip to his hometown Skydra, in the north of Greece. After this trip, he will be more honest to himself. Wild Duck is a feature film with a strong political value, both in terms of its production process and its content. Within a paralyzed statefunding production system in the economically hit Greek film industry, Wild Duck is a totally independent film, made as a result of a team work among friends and collaborators who believed in it from day one. It was shot in RED Epic, in Athens and in the north of Greece within twenty three days. Photos by Dimitris Chalkiadakis |
