Ivan is a former rock singer and veteran who lost both his legs in battle. At age 36 he must also come to terms with a marriage on the rocks and with the fact that he can’t see his son. Like many of his fellow veterans, who would often rather take their own lives or waste away in an institution, his life seems to have no future. Ivan’s father Izidor, a famous political prisoner in the former Yugoslavia, is eager to take a seat in the Croatian Parliament. In the middle of campaigning, however, a Serbian refugee named Simo appears and begins to blackmail Izidor. Soon, unexpected facts start bubbling to the surface....
Adapted from a successful theater play, the movie will be appreciated by more than just those who remember what happened in Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia during and after the war. The topic is timeless: wounded war veterans and the inability of anyone to help them, their isolation, and their families condemned to extinction through the criminal absurdities of war...
