The dilemmas showed in the film become ubiquitous in the practical functioning of the city of Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, creating restlessness and tension which calls for a more authentic interpretation. What I mean is that the situation in Mostar is really frustrating. That is why the shots are long, almost documentary, full of daily rituals and topoi. They are almost non-dramatic. They are juxtaposed to sudden, vehement, deep, sometimes surreal, emotive outbursts on the verge of pain, but also to those subdued, restrained expressions of emotions, like a voiceless scream. It all happens in one day, which never seems to end, with no hope of a night-fall. And when the day does end, our main character will probably be content, as if he managed to do something. But he has not. All he did was live another day. Time moves slower when you are waiting, especially if you do not know what it is you are waiting for. A final reminder: the war over there ended a long time ago already, 19 years ago. This is a story about peace.
