On an island scorched by the sun and beaten by the winds, a camp for political detainees awaits the visit of the “great mother”, having prepared a celebration in her honor. A detainee who persistently refuses to sign a declaration of repentance “disappears” and the authorities declare him dead by suicide. Yet the day of the official visit and during the festivities, the “dead” man appears. A little later, a detainee who has “repented” finds him in the sea tied to a stake, dead. With a kiss on the mouth, he acquires something of his determination for unyielding resistance. |
