If you could pick only one photograph of yourself for the next generations to remember you, which one would you choose? As this is an eternal memory for the descendants, people seem to be very keen on finding “the right” portrait. How would you recognize your 82 years old grandparents if their gravestone portrait shows them as 16 years old adolescents? The graveyard picture is also part of the collective memory of the society we live in. That’s why Sabina, a 72 years old widow, wants to replace her gravestone picture because she is “too red” and she will be misjudged as an alcoholic. Making a gravestone picture is not an easy task nowadays, as the photo ceramic companies offer a variety of shapes and backgrounds, from colorful curtains to natural landscapes or “heaven-like” sceneries. While the audience discovers the graveyard as a public photo album and a living social document, the characters fall into a psychological process of finding the perfect image to-be-remembered. |
