Plot
Through an election campaign, an allegory of modern Turkey.
One of Ahmet Canerik’s biggest dreams was to be elected the Village Headman of a village of 68 voters in Dersim. Spanning the three years of his election campaign until March 2014, the film documents the period of Ahmet’s political campaign in the Pülümür district of Dersim. By taking a closer look at the process and the moral complications, Ahmet’s journey takes a fascinating and highly entertaining form of the current political climate in Turkey. The abuse of core moral values such as religious beliefs, family relations and nepotism, where the permanent existence of social pressure and the necessity of surreal projects for the sake of them, all come into play in Caner Canerik’s humorously smart and strangely familiar documentary.
