Film industry labourers had decided to march against the new censorship act in 1977. 60 years of silence in cinema was going to be interrupted for good. From actors/actresses to set workers, 400 women and men started a 5-day-long walk to Ankara–a walk that was realised under the supportive but surprised gaze of the public. This documentary attempts at picturing this forgotten but historical event in the light of the 100th anniversary of cinema in Turkey. "I tried to describe one of the most important events of the history of film in Turkey. In 1977, coming from various filmmaking areas and experiences, hundreds were united under the umbrella name ‘Labourers of Cinema” and initiated a resistance that was one of a kind in the history of film in Turkey. This film aims to contribute in making this event unforgotten and taking its rightful place in history." –Deniz Yeşil |
