Plot
The film stars a sailing boat (the DREAM ΙΙ), its skipper and his young son Nicholas. Whenever the skipper finds the going rough on land, he takes his boat and sails out on the open waters of the Aegean taking Nicholas with him. He attempts to inspire in his son his own love of the sea. On one such journey of initiation we find the father overbearing and the boy indifferent at first (out of sheer reaction) but then little by little it all grows on him. Α sudden squall that comes up while his father has gone fishing in the rubber dinghy forces him to rise to the occasion and take command of the boat himself. DREAM II touches upon the (at least) strange, if not traditionally murderous, father-son relationship in this country. The basic antithesis between father and son is just one of many in the film which function parallel or as a counterpoint to it (sea vs. land, nature vs.machines, etc.). A well-crafted script, a child actor who is a real discovery and impressive cinematography. The colour of the dream is blue.
