Plot
The place is Greece; the time, winter 1981. The finishing touches are applied to the restored Archaeological Museum of a small provincial town. Final preparations for the inauguration ceremony. Taking advantage of the celebrations, the local authorities are planning to start the industrial development of the entire region, with the help of some large foreign concerns. Suddenly, three juvenile delinquents who have escaped from the neighbouring reform school slip into the museum, with the police at their heels. The boys suddenly realize that the exhibits in the museum are extremely valuable. Without the slightest hesitation they decide to use the statues as hostages. They threaten to destroy the statues if the claims of the reform school inmates are not satisfied, and if some. of their companions are not released. The unexpected seizure of the museum brings to light the unscrupulous economic and political game that is hidden behind the inauguration of the museum. The police cordon tightens around the museum. In the building, the boys gradually reveal the various facets of an entire culture, but in a totally uninhibited way... With the help of the woman archaeologist who is in charge of the museum, the boys and the statues, both of them besieged and imprisoned, fight for their survival against the callous realism of the womblike town that surrounds them.
