Elias is a lively eighty-year-old widower who goes from Athens to his village, Perithorio (fringe) in order to vote in the municipal elections. There he meets Photini, a graceful old lady, also a widow, who was his fiancee back in the 1920s. They had broken up because of a misunderstanding but now their old love is rekindled and they decide to get married. Their children, however, are very much against this marriage and their milieu is very conservative. The old couple is afraid of the general outcry and mockery, so they jump on a bus and run away. While their relations are looking for them, Elias and Photini are having a very good time. A sentimental story full of comic and moving scenes. |
