Odysseus Hitonas is the classic case of a scientist who lives in his own world, neglects his wife and daughter and who ends up in jail as a result of his "naivete". There he meets Nonda, an antique dealer from the working-class district of Liossia and Chloridis, a Black Sea Russian who is an astrophysicist but sells cigars outside the Athens Stock Exchange, who "bring him back" to the real world. When they get out of jail, they found the Very Poor Inc. company which has developed an odd system of recycling garbage. Suddenly garbage becomes big business something which sparks off major social, economic and legal conflict around the crucial question WHO OWNS THE GARBAGE? Swanky Kolonaki denizens, garbage dump dwellers, company executives, the homeless, everyone is on a peculiar "treasure hunt". A contemporary, tongue-in-cheek, up-beat satire. |
