In an isolated village in Transylvania, in the early 60s, the people live peaceful lives under the leadership of Tanasie, the local People’s Council president. A mobile cinema, run by an ambitious communist activist, Tavi, arrives with the express mission of screening a propaganda film. It’s Tavi’s first assignment and he struggles to make a success of it, even though the endless rain causes flooding and the inertia of some of the villagers continually frustrates his plans. Slowly, under Tanasie’s prodding, everybody makes a compromise. Meanwhile, Tavi falls in love with Corina, the village teacher and the attraction between them initially appears mutual. Against all odds, the screening of the Russian propaganda film is finally about to happen... |
