Corazón International was founded by Fatih Akin, Andreas Thiel and Klaus Maeck in 2004, primarily as a production company for Fatih Akin's film projects. Corazón also works with other German and international directors, and participates in international co-productions. corazón co-produced Head On (Golden Bear 2004) with Wüste Film, and the music documentary Crossing the Bridge (2005) was made in co-production with Intervista. In 2006, corazón was involved in the production of the Turkish film Takva - A Man`s Fear of God , a runaway success in Turkey, and produced its first own feature film THE Edge of Heaven (Director: Fatih Akin, 2007) to much critical acclaim. After producing Chiko, Özgür Yildirim's directorial début, the next Akin-film Soul Kitchen, released in winter 2009 and reaching 1.3 mio German admissions, was the most successsful corazón film so far. 2009 corazón also financed the post production of the Kurdish film Min Dit - The Children of Diyarbakir by Miraz Bezar and produced Ufo in Her Eyes by Chinese writer and director Xiaolu Guo, to be presented in 2011. Still in production are Fatih Akin's documentary Garbage in the Garder of Eden and Moma Mrdakovic's feature Mamarosh. |
