Le Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée or CNC (the National Center of Cinematography and the moving image) is a French agency of the Ministry of Culture, responsible for the production and promotion of cinematic and audiovisual arts in France, is a publicly owned establishment, with legal and financial autonomy.
Created by law on 25 October 1946 as the Centre national de la cinématographie (National Center of Cinematography), it is currently directed by Éric Garandeau.
The CNC's primary archive is in the former Fort de Bois-d'Arcy to the southwest of Paris. Initially established in 1969 to house combustible nitrate films, it now houses modern acetate films as well. |
