Founder and owner of the company 8Heads Productions, PhDr. Julietta Sichel, is a former Program Director of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, film theorist, historian, journalist and film producer. Julietta Sichel studied German and English language and American literature at the University of Salzburg, Austria. After moving back home to Prague, she graduated from film history and theory at the Philosophy Faculty of the Charles University. She collaborated with the University of Vienna and the Prague National Film Archive on the research connected with her Doctorate Degree project. In 1995 Julietta Sichel joined the programming team of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. From 2005 till 2010 she was the Festival’s Program Director, representing the Karlovy Vary IFF at numerous festivals all around the world. She was a member of several international juries including among others: Adelaide IFF (Jury President, 2011), Edinburgh, Miami, Brisbane, Oslo, Tallinn and Trondheim festivals, Sundance/NHK Filmmakers’ Award and the Jury of Canada’s Top Ten (organized by Toronto IFF). Sichel curated numerous film retrospectives and special focuses with special attention paid to Nordic, Russian and Asian films. For her maintaining interest in Korean Cinema, Sichel received the prestigious Korean Cinema Award at the 16th Busan IFF 2011. The Award is annually bestowed to filmmakers who contribute to the advancement of Korean films in the international film industry. Julietta Sichel and her 8Heads Productions focus mainly on projects with an international potential and on international coproductions. |
