Vlado Škafar, filmmaker, writer, is also engaged in the diffusion of the cinematic culture as he is, among other things, one of the co-founders of the Slovenian Cinematheque (program director from 1993 to 1999) and of the Kino Otok – Isola Cinema International Film Festival. As filmmaker, he first made short film STARI MOST (THE OLD BRIDGE, 1998, world premiere at Sarajevo FF), documentary feature PETERKA - LETO ODLOCITVE (PETERKA: YEAR OF DECISION, 2003, world premiere at Cinema du Reel, Paris, 2004), POD NIJHOVO KOZO (UNDER THEIR S.K.I.N., 2006, world premiere at Crossing Europe) and two film essays - OTROCI (LETTER TO A CHILD, 2008, world premiere at Rotterdam IFF 2009) and NOCNI POGOVORI Z MOJCO (NIGHTTIME WITH MOJCA, 2009, world premiere at FID Marseille). OCA (DAD, 2010), his first fiction film, was first ever Slovenian film selected for Venice Film Festival"s International Critics" Week.
