Bio
Ana Grgic is a researcher, currently completing a PhD on preservation, cultural memory and early cinema history in the Balkans, at the University of St Andrews (Scotland). She recently contributed to The Film Festival Yearbook 5: Archival Film Festivals (2013) edited by Alex Marlow-Mann with an essay on contemporary sites of memory and archival film screenings, and she writes for the East European Film Bulletin. In 2011, she received her Master Degree from the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, with a dissertation on film restoration and cinematic image-matter. She assisted in curating the Peter Greenaway film programme at the Australian Cinémathèque, and the contemporary video and cinema practice ‘The View from Elsewhere’ at the Queensland Art Gallery in 2009. Prior to embarking on an academic career, she had worked in film production at the Italian studio Cinecittà and visual effects post production in London’s Soho district for several years. Ana is currently acting as a co-chair for the SCMS Central/East/South European Scholarly Interest Group, ambassador of Balkans Beyond Borders and a jury member for the Best Critic Award at altcineAction!  film festival.
