Christos Barbas began studying the Ney in the year 2000 having already 13 years of experience playing the Baroque recorder on which he received his diploma in 2002. For 2 years he studied Ney with Markos Skoulios as well as Makam theory and in 2003 he visited the Musical Workshop Labyrinth for the first time where he met Ömer Erdoğdular with whom he has been studying Ney and Makam ever since. He has participated in almost all of his seminars and master classes in both Greece as well as abroad, sometimes as many as three in the same year.
