Born in 1985, Görkem Şarkan graduated from Istanbul University State Conservatory, Department of Theatre in 2013. He has founded his own theatre troop “Serbest Bölge” (“Free Zone”) in 2010. He has written, directed and played in "Çat” (“The Roof”) which brought him a nomnation for the best actor in a supporting role in Sadri Alaşık Theatre Awards. In 2011, he has received playwright of the year award in Tobav Awards with his last play “Yok Oğlum Biz Evdeyiz” (“No Man, We Are At Home”). He was also nominated for the playwright of the year in 2012 Theatre Theatre Magazine Awards. In 2013, he has directed his first feature film, NERGIS HANIM (MRS. NERGIS) produced by AC Film, starring Zerrin Sümer and Settar Tanrıöğen.
