He was born in Tirana in 1959. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts and the Film School in Tirana. His first feature film, Necrology, received a Special Mention for Best First Feature Film at the Montreal World FF in 1996. Alternative Head, a video documentary shot in 1996 won several awards at international festivals. Ηis film Tirana Year Zero won the Golden Alexander at the 42nd Thessaloniki IFF.
