Tonia’s love for the moving image led her to pursue her dream and become a director. In 1997, after studying in the UK, she moved to Cyprus to start working as a director and producer “experimenting” in film, theatre, video and television. Her short film “DEAD END” (2013) achieved a nomination for the “Golden Pardino – Leopards of tomorrow” at Locarno Film Festival. The same film was officially selected to compete in more than 25 International Film Festivals around the world, also winning 5 awards, including 2 for “Best Director”. Her third short film "Lullaby of the butterfly" (2014) has been officially selected to make its World Premiere at Sarajevo Film Festival in August 2014. She is now researching her debut feature film. She holds the position of Film Representative in the Board of Directors of the Directors Guild of Cyprus since January 2014. |
