Demirel started working on documentaries with oral history projects. He finished his first documentary “38” in 2006 and founded Surela Film in 2009. The same year he got the best documentary awards for his documentary “Prison Number 5: 1980-84” from Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Ankara Film Festival and SIYAD.
